We did get some snow while here in Fort Collins with the kids and grandkids - about 3 inches. However, it was a wet, Spring snow that's not that much fun to be out in. So the grandkids spent a lot of time playing inside - watching videos, etc.
Here's a picture of Juliet and Leah with their Dad watching a video on his iPhone.
Then Wade Daniel put on a video of Leah dancing so she decided to dance again.

And, finally, we went to the local library...
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13 NIV)
One of the greatest feats of endurance is the Antarctic expedition led by Ernest Shackleton in 1915 in the sailing ship Endurance. The South Pole had already been reached so his goal was to be the first explorer to cross the continent on foot.
Due to an extremely cold spring and summer and a few not so great decisions, his ship, Endurance would up locked into the pack ice. His original plan was to wait out the winter until the following Spring and then resume his voyage. However, the pressure of the pack ice was to great and the Endurance was crushed and sank into those cold, cold waters.
Shackleton and his men were able to strip the ship of supplies and materials and in three life boats set out to try to reach land. The worsening weather actually pushed their boats backwards for over 50 miles and they eventually landed on Elephant Island which had only a very small strip of beach.
Shackleton decided the only way to get help was to take one boat and try to cross over 800 miles of icy, South Atlantic seas to reach a whaling station on South Georgia Island. So he, the captain of the Endurance and four of the crew set out to make what is still considered the greatest small boat trip ever made. After 18 days of bitter conditions they were hit by a hurricane just before getting to South Georgia Island and were forced to make land fall on the opposite side of the island from the whaling station.
Three of the crew were in bad condition by this time so Shackleton, the captain and one crew member set off across South Georgia Island which was unexplored. They had to cross mountain ranges and glaciers, but 36 hours later they stumbled into a very suprised whaling station.
Not taking any rest, Shackleton set out in a steamer to first rescue the three men on the other side of the island. Because of pack ice, it was over four months before he could get to Elephant Island to rescue the remainder of his crew - amazingly all still alive.
After 18 months, Shackleton and all of his crew returned to England. Not one crewman had been lost.
Whenever I think my life might be getting a little tough, I recall Ernest Shackleton and his incredible crew and what they went through.
Shackleton called his men to endure and he was faithful to and responsible for them. God calls us to endure and he is faithful to and responsible for us.
Don't give up.
Betty and I are on our way to Fort Collins to visit with our kids and granddaughters. It's supposed to snow while we're there so it should be interesting. Hopefully we won't have any problems getting home next week.
I'll try to do some posts while we're gone.

This past Sunday, Betty and I were thinking of working with Sugar and Morgunn. It turned out to be fairly windy so we decided to take a walk instead. Even though there have been more houses built around us since we moved in almost nine years ago, it doesn't take too long for us to walk to an area that's still pretty open.
Needless to say we had a good time. We came home and Betty fixed some tamales in red sauce, roasted asparagus and black beans - yum!
When I was growing up, we always ate dinner together as a family. Most of the time these were good times, but, as with any family, we sometimes had our squabbles.
