School Days

Betty's new friend and trainer, Miriam, came over again this morning to work with Betty and Sugar. Miriam's 13 year old daughter, Katrina, also came with her. She's an excellent horse woman like her mother.

This was the third session with Miriam and the first time I had the good sense to have my camera with me.

The first thing Miriam wanted to do was take Sugar out on a little trail ride with me on Morgunn. This would allow us to do a little gaiting to see how the work with Sugar is going. We rode over into the sage area just South of our home. We did several gaits on a dirt road then took the horses down into the arroyo. The ground was a little soft from last night's rain, but that's good for their muscles as long as you don't get them to go too fast.

Here's a picture of Miriam working Sugar in the arroyo.

After our short trail ride, we came back to our house where Betty could ride Sugar some under Miriam's watchful eye. Katrina rode Morgunn and the two of them have become good friends.

Finally, Gletta, Morgunn and Sugar are all getting along. Morgunn and Gletta are giving each other a mutual grooming while Sugar looks on.

Have a great weekend.

I'm with Keri. Like the love of them all together.

I would love to get lesson. I had a couple lessons when I was a 4-h horse leader, they were very helpful.

I'm so glad things are going so well with the lessons for Betty and Sugar. It was fun to see the photos. The trainer's daughter is so tall and lean. She would look amazing on on a Saddle-bred or Hunter Jumper horse.

At the horse rescue, there are a few opportunities to take lessons...so I may be doing that before too much longer. I'll probably choose another horse, though.

Baby Doll is spending most of her time in the leased pasture up on the ridge for now.

I'd be happy to show Betty what I know if you'd like. . .
