Wednesday Fixit

Betty and I had a good ride this morning along the irrigation ditch. Betty's working on our new batch of roasted chiles and I'm doing some odds and ends for the rest of the day.

So, I thought I would share some pictures a friend sent to us about how people have creatively fixed some of their problems.

Corrales Horse Extravaganza

In an earlier post I mentioned that Betty and I volunteered at the first annual Corrales Horse Extravaganza. It was part of the Harvest Festival that was held this past weekend. I took pictures and Betty did a lots of odds and ends.

The purpose of the event was to highlight the horse culture of Corrales and, for the first time it was held, we had a pretty good turn out -- about 150 people or so.

The event was in two parts. The first half showed the different breeds with the announcer reading the history and uniqueness of each breed. The second half demonstrated various horse disciplines.

Here are some pictures from the Horse Extravaganza.

Before the breed demonstration, a local horsewoman, Blair Darnell, was honored for all she did to keep the horse culture in Corrales alive and well for many years.

I'm OK

I didn't post yesterday on Saturday and this is it for Sunday. Yesterday was a full day. It was the Corrales Harvest Festival and, for the first time, we had a Horse Extravaganza as part of the festival. We had demonstrations of all the different breeds found in Corrales and then a demonstration of various horse disciplines (dressage, etc.). We had a good turn out of people to watch and it went off great. It was a lot of fun.

My job was to take pictures and I worked on those when I got home. I'll have a post later this week of the event.

Today was church this morning and then I spent the afternoon talking with a family whose husband/father was killed in an accident. I'm doing the funeral tomorrow afternoon. I've been working on my eulogy this evening.

So, that's it. I'm not like my good friend Michelle. It's almost 9:00 PM and I'm going to bed. No staying up to midnight or later. She's tougher than I am. ;)

Fabulous Friday

Betty and I have had a great Friday. First, the weather has been gorgeous -- blue skies and pleasant, cool breezes -- a good day for a ride down to the North end of the Bosque.

Betty warming Sugar up in our back lot by going around behind our round pen.

The ditch paths heading to the North end of the Bosque.

The Purple Asters were in bloom everywhere.

At the North end of the Bosque we stopped at a grass patch next to the Rio Grande so the horses could have a rest and a nibble of grass.

Riding back towards home.

Riding through a bunch of Purple Asters.

After we get home and get the horses untacked, Sugar's first priority is a drink...

... and Morgunn's first priority is a roll in the gravel. Feels good!

Our first priority, after a shower, was to head to our favorite Corrales restaurant, The Indigo Crow, for a lunch on their patio under a huge Cottonwood tree.

Followed by a quick stop at The Coppertree Gallery.

All in all, a great day.
