When I was a kid, probably 6 or 7, I received a Lionel Train set for Christmas. It was one of those basic sets with a circular track that was probably 3 feet or less in diameter. I had a locomotive, coal car, a couple of other cars, and a caboose. You could put little pellets in the smokestack and it would make little white puffs as it ran. There was very little speed control, if any. Basically you could switch it on and off, but I enjoyed it - for awhile.
That was the extent of my involvement with model trains. Since then I've seen several nice train set ups - one in a friend's house in Augusta, Georgia and others in Christmas set ups in downtown Cincinnati.
They all pale in comparison to this one in Hamburg, Germany. Even if you don't care about model trains, it's worth a look to see what their creative minds have come up with - and they're still adding to it.
Enjoy.

What incredible attention to detail. It boggles my mind that some people would devote that much time to a miniature. They must really love it. Some people don't understand my love of riding and animals either!
BTW Dan, I still can't email you, but I am requesting comcast to take my IP off of the blocked list, so we will see how that goes. Weird. It went through, then it didn't. Hmmmm

I'll have to show this to John. He and his Grandfather shared their love and trains and model trains.
He inherited hundreds of his Grandfather's HO trains and has plans to build an impressive layout one day. For now it's just tables, styrofoam, and lots of track, buildings and trains stored on shelves in the extra garage.

The BioPark has a nice little train set up. Nothing like that German one, of course, but it is still nice.
Wow and wow and WOW!! i cannot believe that! That could almost make me want to travel to Germany to see it in person...almost. I'll have to show the kids this.
How do you find these videos?
Wow! Very interesting. Not nearly as exciting as traveling to those places in real life though. I have always been very interested in living life to the fullest and experiencing everything first hand. How do you feel about that? Cool blog that you have here! -Stacey (Keri's friend)
