Friday Funny - Sure, You Try It

Being older myself, I can sympathize with this couple trying to make a commercial for a restaurant in Maine.

Enjoy.

Woo Hoo --- Back in the Saddle

It has been a month (more for Betty) since we have been able to ride the horses. We would have tried to ride last week if I hadn't been so darn sick. Plus, it's been really cold up until yesterday.

Today was even better - only about 37 degrees when we went out, but our New Mexico sun made it feel about 55 degrees so it was a good day.

When Betty left early before Christmas to be with our youngest son for his surgery, I rode Morgunn once while she was gone. Morgunn was trained in an old-fashioned way with a heavy hand so Betty has been working with him to get him lighter and more responsive to light cues.

When I rode him before Christmas there were a couple of things I figured out that might help and that's what Betty worked on this morning. She did very well and Morgunn responded pretty well, even with a month off.

We hope to ride tomorrow morning, but that might be it for a while. Friday is supposed to be colder and perhaps a little messy - rain and/or snow. Then the bottom is supposed to drop out over the weekend and be much, much colder. Oh well, even a couple of days riding is better than nothing this time of year.

Monday Video - Flash Mob, Italian Style

If you read this blog, then you know I like creative flash mobs. Here's one done as only the Italians can do it.

Sunday Reflection - Off to War We Go

There's a Christian writer that I follow - Michael Youseff. His writings make me think about taking my faith seriously in a world that is becoming more hostile to Christ.

Here's a quote from his latest blog post that is a good reminder for us as we step deeper into 2013.

Let them, and us, be forewarned that to crave the world’s praise is to lose something far more important: our eternal reward.

Our attitude should be to let them hate us all they want, while we will still love our enemies and bless those who persecute us.

Let them malign us all they want. We will not return evil for evil. We will let our “good” defeat their “anti-Christ” schemes.

Let them denigrate our love for our Lord, and for others, all they want. They can never defeat our caring spirits. “Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

We are not in a public relations war. We are in a spiritual war. Therefore, don’t wave the white flag. Don’t be tempted to cave in to their pressure.

Keep on serving. Keep on loving. Let them war against us to their hearts’ content. For we read the last chapter, and it says, “The Lord wins!”

Have a power-filled 2013!

Yep, have a power-filled 2013.

Friday Funny - Loca, the Dog Who Couldn't Run

Thanks to my sister-in-law Noel, here's a neat video from Ireland about a dog who couldn't run.

Enjoy.

Ugh! Still sick.

This pictures represents how I felt yesterday morning after being sick all night and not sleeping. I don't party any more, but it captures how I felt.

Happy (cough) New (sneeze) Year (aching head)!

Last Sunday I did a Sunday Reflection about new beginnings. I didn't expect that my new beginning for 2013 would be a raging head cold.

Oh well, I hope you're having a better New Year's Day than I am. There's always tomorrow.
