My Honey the Horse Woman

Unfortunately, I didn’t have my camera with me yesterday when Betty and I worked the horses in the back.

I was working with Sugar in the round pen when I heard a noise.  I looked around and there was Betty on Morgunn standing on our wooden bridge.  In several years the best I could do was to get Morgunn to put his front two feet onto the bridge.  After only a month or so, Betty got him all the way up.

I’m really proud of her.  She really is a good horse woman.

(If you recall, I predicted this several weeks ago in an earlier post.)

Well done, sweetie.

Sunday Reflection – Limits of the Flesh

Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.  They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:30-31)

I’m no young man, but I am tired and weary as I write this.  After church, Betty and I have been working around the house.  I moved some dirt in the back to fill in a depression the horses dug along a fence line.  Then while Betty cleaned out our hot tub, I cleaned up our court yard moving all the clippings from the bushes I trimmed yesterday.

That may not sound like much to you younger folks, but when you’re nearing 65 the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.

So, I’m taking the rest of the day.  Happy Sabbath.

Just A Trim Off The Bottom, Please

It’s time to give Morgunn a trace clip because the days are getting pretty warm.  A trace clip is cutting the hair on the belly and neck because that’s where horses lose the heat from their body.  The rest of the body with the muscle groups are still covered in hair.  Since the nights are still pretty chilly, in the 30’s or low 40’s, we won’t do a full body clip until the nights are in the 50’s – probably late May.

So, this morning we bit the bullet and the flying horse hair and gave him his clip.

Friday Funny – And The Truth Is Revealed

You can’t find this in the Bible, but there’s probably some truth in this.

Signs of Spring

We don’t have many flowers in our yard other than flowering bushes.  So, here are our first signs of Spring.

Clover growing wild.

Something eating the Prickly Pear Cactus. (What in the world can eat the cactus and not get spines all in their mouths?  If you know, let me know).

Horsing Again

Today started out with a cold North wind, but it died down later in the morning.  So, after cleaning up last night’s manure, we decided to ride the horses again in the back.

Here’s Sugar and Morgunn getting an after ride drink.DSCN0052_640x480
And, TJ, the carrots are not peeled.  You asked for a picture and here it is.
