Betty and I love Christmas. We love the true meaning of the season - Christ's birth - but we also love all the glitz and glitter, all the Christmas music, all the Christmas decorations, all the Christmas shows on TV.We started our Christmas celebration today by bringing in our artificial Christmas tree (I know, but all old folks eventually go to artificial trees) and all of our Christmas decorations.
So, this will be the first of several posts throughout the Advent season as we wait to celebrate once again the gift that is summed up in these words, "Unto you is born this day, a Savior."

On this day in 1877 Thomas Edison demonstrated his invention, a hand-cranked phonograph that recorded sound on grooved metal cylinders. Edison shouted verses of "Mary Had a Little Lamb" into the machine, which played back his voice. In 1890 the first Army-Navy football game was played. The Navy Middies won, 24-0 (Go Navy!). In 1929 Navy Lieutenant Commander Richard E. Byrd radioed that he'd made the first airplane flight over the South Pole. In 1981 actress Natalie Wood drowned in a boating accident off Santa Catalina Island, California at age 43. And in 1986 actor Cary Grant (one of the coolest actors ever) died in Davenport, Iowa, at age 82.

Mark and I feel the same way and today we got the whole visiting gang together and decorated some living trees right inside our gate. It look really cute. They even hung balls on the barb wire fence. I am sure we will do a post sometime soon. Enjoy the season commemorating His birth.
And not just old folks use fake trees either. We've used one ever since our twins were born. I found that with kids and a family that I'd always be forgetting to water the tree. And by Christmas day, all the needles would fall off with just a little poke. lol!
And of course, that's a fire danger.
So fake is the way we have to go for the time being. Love the smell of real trees, though.
And we love Christmas, too. I just put up a few decorations today and our stockings on the fireplace.
