Sugar Bonding Continues

It has been interesting to watch the dynamics in our herd as Sugar was introduced and is now becoming comfortable in her new home.

At first she let Morgunn and Gletta know that she wanted to be the lead mare and they both consented to that. Now that has been established she is spending more time connecting and bonding with the two of them.

She has spent time getting closer to Gletta, but Gletta's nature is to be a loner so she has not responded in kind. That's Sugar in our round pen with Gletta.

Now Sugar is spending her time cozying up to Morgunn. She'll follow him around and when he stops she'll come up along side him. She'll nip at his flanks and he'll nip her's right back. It's more play and/or affection rather than aggression.

If they're standing head to head they'll play nip at each other's head. Neither one has their ears back which is a sign of aggression.

"Hey, guys, can I come in and bond with you too?"

So far, we're very happy with the way Sugar is adjusting to her new home.
