One of the things I like about this time of the year is all the baby quails. We have two different quail species in our area – Scaled Quail and Gambrels Quail. The parents will have up to 12 – 15 babies and we often see them running across the road when the babies are tiny – just about the size of a small mouse. It’s almost impossible to get a picture when they’re that small. They’re too small to get into our courtyard so we only see them when we’re driving.
A couple of weeks later they’re large enough to get into our courtyard so we can see them. Great time of year.
This is a Scaled Quail brood.
